Sex and relationships can be a bit confusing when you're young. Very often you may feel pressures to conform to what other people tell you, but it's important that you think things through for yourself, and make your own decisions about how you feel and what's comfortable for you.
The law, however, is very clear about what is considered right or wrong in terms of sexual relations, and these rules are designed to protect you in case other who are older or in positions of power try to take advantage of you.
'Sex' as an activity is defined in law as penetrative, oral or mastrubating together. In Wales, England or Scotland, it is illegal for you to have homosexual (with someone of your own sex) or hetereosexual (with someone of the opposite sex) sex if you're under 16 years old.
In addition, if you're over 16 have sex with someone who is between 13-15, you could face two years in jail, and if he or she is under 13, this could be life: it is treated the same as rape. It would be illegal for anbody in a 'position of trust', such as a teacher or doctor, to have sex with anybody under 18 in his or her trust.
