Getting pregnant later in life can have a few complications, and it usually means that some extra tests are needed to make sure that the baby is healthy. These are additional to the normal scans given, and one of the most common is the amniocentesis test, which also has a few risks associated with it - but this is by no means the only test possible.

NHS Direct Wales is a 24 hour helpline, which can give advice about health and health services across Wales. It is staffed by experienced nurses specially trained to give advice over the phone and provide information about all your local services.
