Sgint and Theatr Genedlaeth Cymru

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Pethe takes a look at ‘Sgint’.

This is an exciting, new production by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru with Sherman Cymru and in association with Galeri, Caernarfon.

The drama is the first verbatim play in Welsh and uses the exact words of real people from Caernarfon as it’s script. The programme follows the production from the rehearsal room to the stage and talks to Artistic Director, Arwel Gruffydd, about the play and his vision for the company. We also speak to the play’s author, Bethan Marlow, and some of the actors about the work and hear the opinions of Megan Eluned Jones, Gareth Miles, Alun Ffred Jones and members of the audience at the premier at Sherman Cymru, Cardiff.

Especially for you we include some extra footage – the opinions of Megan, Gareth and Alun Ffred on the role of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.

Annette Bryn Parri: Byd o Gerdd

Friday, February 25th, 2011

On S4C Sunday 27 February at 20.30.

Annette had a musical uprbinging. Her father, she said, had “a wonderful tenor voice when he was young.” And she and her two sisters sang together as children. But it was always the piano that was Annette’s love. The story about her asking her parents for a ‘pnano’ when she was three years old has passed into family legend.

“I don’t know why I chose the piano rather than another instrument but when I was three years old my mother and father said that I’d aked for a ‘pnano’”, she said.

Below, (note, this is not taken from the programme) Annette plays a piece from her latest CD, Myfyrdod (Meditation).
