Craig Harrison insists The New Saints will be going in to their second leg Champions League tie with Helsingborgs full of confidence.
“I think they were surprised by how good we were,” said The New Saints Director of Football, following his side’s 0-0 draw against the Swedish treble winners at Park Hall last Tuesday night.
“But I wasn’t surprised, we know what we’ve got and what we’re capable of. We were as good as them if not slightly better.”
Craig Jones hit the post early on and Greg Draper missed a great chance in the second half which would have given the Welsh champions a deserved first leg lead going into the second leg.
And although Harrison was disappointed not to have won the game he was incredibly satisfied not to have conceded an away goal to the Swedish champions.
“That’s huge,” he said. “We’re very dangerous on the break, now they have to come to us and bring the game to us (in Helsingborgs) and they have to score a goal.
“We’ve shown that we’re more than capable on hitting them on the break and creating chances.”
